Reid had hid himself in his bed....okay Tyler's bed. He'd been to restless with the memories of what he and Taylor had done in his. He didn't want to think about it. But every other thought that came out had to do with Taylor...It hurt so much. I'm sorry I ever made fun of the guys. I'm sorry I pick on Tyler. I'm sorry I don't try hard enough. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. Just give Taylor back to me. Please. Reid shivered again and sat thier squeezing the life out of his pillow. At some point he'd fallen asleep. Only to be awakend by knocking on the door.
"WHAT DO YOU WANT?" He shouted, his voice was hoarse even to him. He blinked when he noted his cheek was all wet, had he been drolling again? No...
Great. I cried myself to sleep. Comforting.
Another knock and Reid grumbled. He was thinking about just leaving it, when he heard the voice outside. Pogue's.
"COME IN!" Reid shouted hoping his friend could hear him.
Pogue's eyebrow raised slightly to Reid's first response until he heard him yell come in. The second Son..or third depending on which way it was looked at, made his way into the room. The door was shut softly behind him, as if the building would collapse if he had done it any harder.
Navigating his way through the room, his eyes finally rested on Reid with a heavy sigh. He didn't look so good and honestly it disturbed Pogue. "Hey man.. What's up?" It was a dumb question, but Pogue decided not to skip formalities. The last thing he needed to do was say something that set Reid off again.. Or pretend that everything was just peachy in his friend's life.
Reid stayed quiet and glowered at Pogue. Like this was all Pogue's fault. Then with an empty and bored sigh he pulled the ocver's back over him. His words came out muffled. "You know what happened. I told you...didn't I?" Reid grumbled.
"I kissed Sarah in front of Taylor..he saw it. And after all that coming out shit too. Now you guys probably all having a real laugh arent' you. Caleb's probably totally soaking this information in. I mean! Look at me! Right? The bad boy, the just asking for trouble one gets it right fuck in the crotch. Hope your laughing this one out. Fucking life. I'd have half a mind to end it with these miserable powers..."
Reid finished in a softer mummble hoping Pogue didn't hear. He knew the other boy never would appreciate hearing a death threat. Definatly not from Caleb and certainly not from the other younger ones. Even once Reid could remember Tyler bombing some test or other Brainiac) and saying he'd have to kill himself if he didn't get higher....Pogue hit the ceiling. He was pretty damn protective. Guess Reid had remembered that...
How old were we the anyway? 12? 14? ...Man, I wasn't a fairy then. Why now.
Pogue found himself furrowing his eyebrow's when Reid spoke softly about ending his own life. He hated seeing Reid this way, and more so hated how he practically felt the world was against him. "Hey, I don't wanna hear that from you. You know none of us are laughin' at cha man.. Though kissin' Sarah.. That is kinda funny.."
He shot Reid a few pearly whites before taking a seat across from him and shaking his head. "No one cares about that stuff Reid.. You are who you are.. And even if others do care, to hell with em'. You know it'd never change things between the four of us." He was beginning to understand why the guys always told him he sounded like Mufasa. But that was Pogue for you, dedicated, protective, and loving towards the ones closest to him.
Reid shifted underneath the sheets. "Geez man. Don't lean so far near me. Your breath smells like tuna. Ugh." Reid grinned slightly from under the sheets. It was just like when he was a kid. Pogue knew how to get him out of a slump.
But then, this time it was different. Reid could still smell Taylor's scent, even in his mind he could hear the gentle voice and normally remember the warm body that would cling up against him...Gone. All gone.
"I miss him, man. He wasn't normal. Like you know me." Reid pushed the covers down a bit so he could meet Pogue's face, not eyes directly but face. "I date a girl. Do her. Ditch her. Get over it. Don't get attached, just like Dad says. And now what? I'm suddenly attached? And to a dude! And on top of that, as if my fucking powers weren't enough! He's pissed at me. And is more then likely calling it quits even though I announced my fucking gayness to the world!..."
Reid sent him a small smile though, "Sarah was a pretty good kisser though..."
"Seriously?" Pogue's hand came to his face sarcastically while allowing himself to breath on it, as if testing Reid's theory. Sooner or later though he let another smile form at the corner of his lips. A smile that was quick to begin turning upside down the more Reid went on about how painful the absence of Taylor was.
"I guess I'm next in line then." Another sarcastic comment towards Reid's remark about Sarag. Eventually though he shook his head and got serious again. "He's not gonna do that man.. I think he'll realize how little a stolen kiss meant compared to what you two have if he feels the same way. Besides, come on it's Sarah. Hah, unless there's some sort of love triangle going on between you, her, and Caleb--In which I would have to say, Sarah is pretty damn good--then everyone knows she's smart enough not to remotely date you. Hahah. He's probably just angry right now, give it time man."
Reid just stared at Pogue. "I'm sorry. Is this your sensitive side? Cause I think I missed it." Reid rolled his eyes but nodded to his friend. He still wasn't feeling that good.
"I know..but...it's complex...that whole love triangle thing...It's uh...um.." Reid flushed and nervously avoided Pogue's eyes.
Wonder what he'd say if I told him his best pal and I kissed...too...
Reid sighed and rolled his eyes. Opening the drawer to his right and showing Pogue the knife on the pillow with the garwin crest embeded on it.
"I'd call it more protection then advantage. Y'know?"
There was a long exhale of breath from Pogue when letting his right hand trail through his hair to push it out of his face. As much as he enjoyed it, it was probably silly to live in this fantasy that there was no chance Chase was alive given the circumstances.
"Caleb? Tyler? What'do they think?" In the long run, did it even matter?
"Hell do you think I'm takingh a survey? What will that do. I just want him dead. And we gotta expect the unexpected to get that. Don't tell me you've forgotten the books rules, buddy."
"The book actually had rules huh? Wow.. Really has been a while since I looked at it." Pogue ran his hand over his face and shook his head. Soon he was standing to his feet and once again ruffling Reid's hair with his right hand. "Now that I got more things to worry about because of you." His sarcasm was obvious, despite knowing how serious the information was to be brought to his attention and snap him out of that 'Chase is gone for good' fantasy he wanted to live in.
Ah well, back to reality.
Reid rolled his eyes but didn't pull away from the familiar feeling of having his blond hair ruffled by Pogue, again.
"I wish things stayed the same, y'know." Reid admitted. He did. He wished they were still little. Running around that camp, that summer, laughing and joking and just thinking HEY WHAT THE HELL! If I have powers the world can kiss MY ass!
Course that hadn't lasted long...
"Why do things change..."
Pogue only shook his head to state "Because people change, Reid." Finally standing to his feet with a yawn while stretching his arms high above his head. "Chase possibly being alive.. definitely food for thought...Ergh.. I'm gonna go stop by Caleb's place, you all right for now man?"
Reid rolled his eyes. He was just about to laugh at the fact that he and Pogue were actually having a serious conversation. "Yeah, whatever. People don't have to change. Hell, I haven't." He got up and watched Pogue head to the door.
"What gonna just leave? Leave me alone?" Reid pouted and smirked. "Course I know Caleb and you got a lot of catching up to do...Since you don't have Ty and Me around to break up your lovey dovey moments." Reid smirked. Success. Gay Joke initiated. He thought smirking.
"Anyway. I think I'll take it upon myself to come with you. See good old Caleb. Y'know? Don't worry. I'll stand outside and wait for your serious conversing to be over." Reid picked up his jacket and threw it on. He looked around the room.
"Seen my black cargos?"
There was laughter from Pogue when he heard Reid's comments. "Well, did you leave em' at Taylor's?" Yes, even Pogue had his moments where he could be sarcastic and crack a joke or two.
With an arrogant smirk he stuffed his hands into the pockets of his jacket, tapping his index finger at the fabric within. "I don't even care if you go in your boxers, just hurry it up will ya? Heh."
